Nowadays many permanent solutions for hair removal are available. They are safe, effective, and efficient to use. Some of the common permanent methods for hair removal are laser method, intense pulse lamp, and electrolysis. Electrolysis is a medically proven method that can eradicate hair permanently. It attacks the hair follicles and then damages them when they are at their peak growing rate. This method was developed in 1869 by Charles Michel. Since then, many improvements have been made to this technique. In fact, the Food and Drug Administration and American Medical Association have recognized electrolysis as way for permanent removal of hair. However, by saying that it is a permanent method it doesn't mean that its results will stay forever. It is a method that can control your hair growth for only about a year or so. In electrolysis, a thin long metal wire is used which is carefully inserted in to the hair follicles. The wire then applies a minute electric current to the follicles which destroys them and thus prevents hair growth. This method is generally painful but the modern innovations added to it have reduced this pain considerably. It is advisable that the electrolysis methods should be performed or carried out by trained professionals called 'electrologist' in clinics. This method normally has no permanent side effects. However some of the common temporary side effect is the reddening of the skin during or after the treatment. It should be noticed that if this treatment is not performed properly then it can lead to partial or full hair growth and also cause skin damages and infections. Electrolysis method for hair removal is a time consuming process and each sitting may lasts for two hours or more. Because of the long time involved, this method is not recommended for removing hair from larger areas like legs and chest. |
